When friends become strangers…

One lesson I learned very early in life is that, “Change is the only constant in human life”. The optimist in me embraced this lesson as a hugely positive one. As we grow, the challenges we face seems to grow with life. And during such times we find that God has a way of strengthening us through people who are around us, particularly our friends. Of course, I cannot deny how we can be uplifted even through strangers sometimes. And if we are fortunate to have our families living close then they are it. But for those of us who have experienced comfort in trials through friends and companions; we who live too far away from our families, where our families are unaware of our life and experiences, it can be hard for us to experience friends becoming strangers.

As humans, there is a constant seeking in us to connect. I think it’s kind of ingrained in us. To connect, to relate. The more technology has grown we find ourselves connecting to machines more than humans lol. Something in us seeks relation, connection. Which causes us to socialize. Make friends. Connect. Relate.

The bitterest hurt in life is to be wounded in the house of your friends; to be wounded by an enemy is bad enough, but it does not take you unawares, you expect it in a measure. ~ Oswald Chambers

A part of me broke when my friend became a stranger. The new Oxford American Dictionary defines a stranger as, “A person whom one does not know or with whom one is not familiar”. I felt betrayed. When we become friends, we give someone a place where they can boost us or hurt us. Where one can uplift us or depress us. No wonder the saying, “Choose your friends wisely”.

Well, I realize it is human to seek to make friends and keep them. But if we allow the actions or reactions of one person to occupy too much time and place in our minds, hearts or lives in the name of friendship and if their actions affect our lives, our person to an extent we seem to become bitter instead of better, weary instead of happy then it is time for a reality check. The saying, “We never lose friends, with time we only realize who the real ones are”, helped me. As life passes, our circle may seem to become smaller but it is the real ones that stay.

I would not stop seeking to connect and relate. As long as we have life, I believe we must seek to connect and relate and make new friends and even seek to keep them. Like Oswald Chambers said, “There is always an intangible something which makes a friend; it is not what he does, but what he is. You feel the better for being in the presence of some men.” Don’t let one person discourage you. Make friends! Be a friend! Cheers!

Your Life is Your Story to Tell!

Everyone likes a good story. Of course, the definition of good in this case varies from person to person. This thought has been pondering in my head for a few days that ~ my life is my story to tell…

All of us have a story.. What is your story? Do you like your story thus far…

Hey! I know it’s a work in progress, won’t it always be until you’re alive lol!! Honestly the best part though is that we have been given an opportunity to work on our story with each passing day…

When it is time to tell our story and words start flowing from our mouth is when there sometimes comes the realization that the choices we have made so far have made a huge impact to what our life is today. Some of the smallest choices in my day puts a small cloud above my head with the words, “do I really want this to be my story today (grin)?”..

To me, every choice is like a crochet stitch (remember you are reading the blog of a crocheter hahaha). With each stitch progresses this thing that I make. When I don’t pay attention to my stitches or lose count I regret for what I am working towards is not what I will have. As a crocheter, every stitch counts! And I think, as a human, every choice we make counts. It adds to another line in the story of our life.

So often we have the choice to bring a smile to even a stranger just with a spontaneous smile or a greeting, but we miss the opportunity by choosing to be so filled with ourselves. Alas! If only we wake up to the wonderful fact that the greatest gift God has given us ~ “the gift to choose”, we will not take another choice lightly… (When I have to choose, I choose Him to choose for me for He knows best..and I love Him so much!)

Well, my dear reader ~ remember, each day is filled with choices! Choose wisely so you can tell your tale without reluctance. If you are a believer like me, I pray you choose the Lord above all things in everything!

Today, I choose to smile away the tears, and not focus on my fears and keep working on each stitch at a time. I’m learning, learning to live, live ~ one day at a time…actually one choice at a time… Your life is your story to tell! Today, is another fabulous opportunity to work a little more on your story.. Hope you enjoy it! 🙂

This is my choice ~~ "not that I have already obtained or am already perfected, but I pursue, if even I may lay hold of that for which I also have been laid hold of by Christ Jesus" ~ Philippians 3:12

Every day is a fresh opportunity to make memories that you will cherish!

For my first post on my website, I should probably be writing something about how “Stringed with Love” begun but I’d really like to express what’s on my mind by living in the moment, not letting these beautiful thoughts fly away! Heres, to a new beginning…

Recently, with each passing day, I’ve been considering this thought ~ “Every day is a fresh opportunity to make new memories that you will cherish!” And I want to cease this opportunity to jot down some of these thoughts. So what, if your motivating and inspiring thoughts seem like a ramble, which I see is my case here. Maybe this is how blogging begins at first? I’ll find out… But for now just want to write down everything that is crossing my mind right now especially because it is filled with inspiration and motivation! So, here………

Make each day count! As one who loves the Lord, I love to begin my day with telling Him how much I love Him! And thanking Him for another opportunity at life! A new day! A new beginning!

As a person who loves clicking pictures of every smallest thing I like, I think it’s a great way to remember memories that I’ll cherish by clicking at least one picture of what I liked in my day. Having an instagram account helps! 🙂

I love journaling. I’ve been journaling since I was in Jr. High. Journaling helps lay my thoughts and memories down and gives me a glimpse of what I was and of my journey thus far in life. So, I want to write at least one thing in my journal that I really liked about that day or in that day. It is quite impressive how the human brain so quickly processes and stores hurt feelings/happenings in the ROM (read-only memory ~ this is my IT consultants’ side of the brain talking); ROM is kind of like a core memory, you know? So hey, writing one good thing about my day is great!

Like me if you are one who has to spend most of your time indoors? Whether because of your job/being a homemaker/whatever your case. I’d like to get out from inside and go out there to take the time to breath some fresh air and see the sunshine! This really adds to my day and brings a smile each time! Sometimes, these few minutes become the highlight of my day!

Last but not the least, have one activity that brightens your mood each day. Maybe a walk? Bike ride? Craft? Cooking a dish you’ve always wanted to cook? Read? Listen to that one song from when you where in college/school. Something. I find it helpful when I note down some of these things I’d love to do since often times they remain forgotten amidst all the work through the day, but when I note ’em down it becomes handy when I’m not having a good day and can’t think of something that could change my mood ~ helps with the bumpy-ride kinda days!

Hope you enjoy making new memories each day! Have a wonderful day! You still have time to make your “memory to cherish” today! 🙂
